The mobile laser scanning machine RoadScanner3 consists of 3 Faros Focus 3D laser scanners and seven digital cameras (2Mpix), as well as an inertia navigation system, which allows to link the obtained photos and measurements to the cartography system LKS-92 used in Latvia. The navigation system consists of two two-frequency GPS/GLONASS receiving antennas and Applanix POS LV220 inertial measuring equipment (machine tilt and motion sensors, odometer).
By combining the above equipment, RoadScanner3 ensures the accuracy and position of the trajectory of the car even in places where there are insufficient or inaccessible positioning satellite signals.

MLS is largely reminiscent of surface laser scanning (VLS), but unlike VLS, the MLS scanner, which is mounted on a car transport, is in motion.
No other method provides such or similar execution for obtaining and compiling spatial information with absolute accuracy of the first centimeters.
MLS can be installed on cars, ships, iron platforms and other vehicles. Scanning is carried out at a distance of several hundred meters in all directions. The density of the points depends on the speed of movement and the distance to the object and can fluctuate sno one to thousands of points per 1 sqm.
