2022. In November, the Luxembourg Defence Directorate has delivered to Ukraine a full package of innovative Artec 3D technologies to capture forensic evidence in 3D. While the Ukrainian armed forces, territorial defense forces and civilian authorities have been working on clearing conflict zones, possible evidence of crimes may be infected, destroyed or lost. This means that it is particularly important to capture and document evidence of war crimes in Ukraine before they disappear.

The package, which has already arrived in Ukraine, includes 30 handheld wireless Artec Leo scanners, additional batteries for longer field scanning time, high-precision calibration kits, and 5-year Artec Studio software licenses for 3D data processing and analysis. Data can also be securely uploaded and stored in the cloud, where it can be shared, accessed and processed anywhere in the world.

Luxembourg’s Defence Minister François Bausch said: “Luxembourg strongly condemns Russia’s aggression in the war against Ukraine and has made significant efforts to supply Ukraine with military equipment currently worth €74 million, which is more than 16% of Luxembourg’s total defence budget for 2022. However, our support is not limited to military equipment. We also support the investigation of war crimes committed by Russia in order to bring those responsible to justice. That’s why we’re providing the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office with the most advanced Luxembourg technology, 30 Artec Leo 3D scanners, which will greatly help in gathering evidence of these war crimes committed.”
